Caring for Pashmina and Silk Shawls
There are simple ways to care for your treasured pashminas and silk shawls.
Check your shawl's label to determine the actual fiber content and care instructions. True cashmere shawls are made from very fine goat's wool. Always wash these items one at a time.
If high content of cashmere or pure silk use care to hand wash your shawl. Firstly, use very cold water in a large bowl, add 1 capful of Home Scents Rose Cashmere & Silk Wash and make sure it is completely dissolved. Then wash very gently while being very careful with hand-tied tassels. Keep it submerged for only a moment. Tip water away and gently add more cold water to rinse thoroughly. Please NEVER twist or wring. Simply lay it on a couple of towels, roll loosely up as a swiss roll, unroll then lay flat to dry on a fresh dry towel, smooth out the wrinkles and place another clean dry towel on top for a few minutes to dry out excess water. Remove the top towel and let the shawl air dry flat. After a day, turn it over onto a fresh towel and remove the damp towel.
Once dry, you may use a cool dry iron but always put a piece of cloth between the iron and the fabric.
If you snag your shawl, use a tiny crochet hook to weave the fibre back into the shawl.
Do not spray perfume on pashmina and silk shawls as they may stain.
Keep your cashmere or silk shawls folded gently when not in use and store in a closet or drawer
